Dd2 7 had an eye test in November which was fine. this last week she's been complaining of not being able to read clearly and says the words are 'smeary'. she put some of my readers on and said it was much better. ive made her an appointment for the opticians but could her eyes have got so bad in just a few months?

Yes, it's possible.
DD used to have perfect vision but we made sure she had frequent eye tests because of my and DH's appalling eye-sight. Then, when she was 8.5 just a few months after an eye test which was fine, her classroom was rearranged and she started sitting at the back and found that she couldn't read the board any more. We took her in for a re-test and suddenly she was short sighted and needed glasses.

Maybe she has had a "growth spurt". Last Feb ds (8) was +.50(longsighted)...this Feb he is -.50(shortsighted). He now has glasses for white board and t.v .It is good that she has noticed it herself.

Ds did not realise he couldn't see clearly till he started wearing glasses !! I think in children changes can happen quickly ....unless November was not "correct"?
