What does she mean, her legs don't work?

NewAtThisMalarky · 05/03/2013 08:15

Take her to the doctor

sonotpretty · 05/03/2013 08:16

She says she can not walk, she is on the sofa.

If she can't stand up, and isn't very well, you need to seek medical advice, not get more medicine in.

ChompieMum · 05/03/2013 08:18

Yes go to doctor. Probably a virus - two of mine have had flu- like viruses which caused problems with legs but best to check

sonotpretty · 05/03/2013 08:18

Called a doctor they will see her at 10.30.

This happened to strapping, strong 12yo ds and it scared the bejesus out of me. It was flu and he recovered just fine, but it needs checking out.

Is the doctor coming to you or vice versa?

FancyPuffin · 05/03/2013 08:24

Hope she's okay.

Agree it could be flu Sad

Rosa · 05/03/2013 08:30

When she stands do her legs give way? Or are they hurting? Either way I would get her seen.

Pozzled · 05/03/2013 08:30

Glad you've got a doctor's appointment. Is it both legs? Just have a quick look at her joints- check they're not swollen or red. My DD had a joint infection caused by a virus.

youfhearted · 05/03/2013 08:30

you know how weak your legs feel when you are ill,t is probably that.
glad you have a doctors appointment.

fluids and rest and calpol

NoTimeForS · 05/03/2013 08:33

DD had post viral arthritis and couldn't bear weight one time. We went to hospital.

BikeRunSki · 05/03/2013 08:43

I suspect she's weak and floppy from being poorly, but see a doc. DS had post viral arthritis too, at 18 months. We were in hospital for 9 days and was on abx for 4 weeks.

HumphreyCobbler · 05/03/2013 09:06

DD had irritable hip from a virus, they may want you to stay in so they can observe her. She was fine.

DeWe · 05/03/2013 09:47

There's a virus that causes exactly that which is most common in children between the age of 5 and 10.
Whenever I've been to A&E in the morning there have always been at least one child in with that.
Hope she's okay.

HeadfirstForHalos · 05/03/2013 09:56

I hope you get on okay at the docs. It may just be that she feels too weak and shaky to walk because of the cold, but definitely best to get it checked out :)

sonotpretty · 05/03/2013 09:59

Thanks to everyone who came back we are off to the doctor in a minute.

She has tried to stand up but her legs buckle she says they hurt, have given her medicine now as well.

Pozzled · 05/03/2013 23:43

OP, just wondering how it went at the doctors today. Hope all is well and that it's nothing too serious.

ChristineDaae · 05/03/2013 23:54

MarinaHantzis · 05/03/2013 23:55

MyCatIsAStupidBastard · 06/03/2013 07:59

My DD has just done a similar thing. We are just waiting to speak to our doc. Hope your DD is ok. OP

ThreeBeeOneGee · 06/03/2013 08:07

This happened to DS when he was 3. Turned out to be 'flu. Hope your DD feels better soon.

throckenholt · 06/03/2013 08:10

I have read a number of threads of this kind thing after a virus - I think there was one earlier in the week. Usually it resolves itself without treatment - but worth checking with GP. I have never heard of it in real life.

I hope she is better soon.
