Slight BO in nearly 9 yr old DD

She complained today about her armpit hurting. It was a little red and it did smell a little. She said she was rubbing it at school as felt sweaty.

I must admit I really struggle with perspiration. HyperHidrosis.
Neither of my children have ever shown symptoms of this and to be honest, DD isn't sweaty really but is a little smelly.

Is she too young for deodorant?
Do I just have to be more rigorous with her daily washing.

Any advice would be welcome

All my DC have been using deoderant by 9 yo. But, making sure they wash well is important, too. One of my DC, in particular, has a strong smell, and for a while, really needed reminding about washing properly. It seems to have got better, now, though.

Is it because we didn't have deodorant when we were that age? I just don't remember. She has a couple of spots on her face too.
My DS (11) has only just started needing deodorant and to be honest, doesn't really need it as he doesn't have any BO.
Is there any link to periods as I didn't start til around 14. Was hoping my DD wouldn't start too young.

My dd needed to start using deodorant when she was about 9, but didn't start her periods till 13 (same age as I was)

Ok thanks. I will start her using it and reaffirm how important daily cleaning is.
