Paediatrician recommendations for constant cough

Hi, am looking for recommendations for a good paediatrician in London to take 10 month old DS. He has always had a bit of a cough since birth but last November when he was 7 months old he developed a really bad cough with fever and cold. The cough lasted about 4/5 weeks (constant waking at night etc). They suspected bronchialitis but on going to A&E they advised it was just a virus and to wait it out.

He's now had another cold and cough for 4 weeks but is still waking at night coughing. He's really congested in the chest and is desperately trying to get rid of phlegm. He occasionally coughs so much he vomits his milk/food up again. That happened again this morning.

The doctors have ruled out whooping cough, croup etc and say it's just a virus but it just seems to hang around for so long each time and it's so noticeable. I feel as though I need to take him to a paediatrician for a second opinion.

Has anybody had a similar experience and can anyone recommend a good paediatrician to see in London?

thanks so much

Where in London?I know a good one in SW London: Dr Dwight Lindo. He is a generalist paediatrician practising in Kingston who has a particular interest in neonates and infants.

A lot of people will recommend the Portland. Personally, I think it is a money factory (they expect payment before they even see a child, which is just not the norm for doctors) and the person we saw there lacked empathy and compassion. However, they are clearly good at the technical side of their jobs as many practice at GOSH on the NHS.

I'd trust your instincts. Warren Hyer is excellent, I saw him in NW London but he also does more central clinics. Very experienced, extremely decent to deal with and thorough. My ds was a prolific puker when he had a cough, it makes you on edge the whole time doesn't it - and distressing for them.

I can recommend Dr Suri, he is Consultant respiratory paediatrician at both Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Portland Hospital. We saw him at the Portland Hospital and have been very happy with him.
