Dd is 4 weeks been given prescription for her reflux. I'm EBF and dr said to mix the gaviscon with expressed milk for a feed each time- spoke to health visiitor who said I could just use a bit of expressed milk with the gaviscon and then feed from breast. But the instructions on the pack say to nix with cooled boilled water - I'm utterly confused as to which way is best.
How did you do it?
Baby is under 10 pounds and will take from bottle
Thanks

My ds was a little bit older - It's a bit hazy now but I think 2 - 3 months, but I think I just mixed with a bit of cooled boiled water and squirted it gently into his mouth with a syringe.

If you have no problem expressing, and your DD will take a bottle, I would mix with expressed milk. Otherwise, I'd use a small amount of cooled boiled water. It's just a thickener, so it's just a way of getting it into them. It's not going to combine in an adverse way with either, I don't think.

I think I used to put it in the bottle as a thickener but in hospital they mixed it with water then gave it before the feed.
Just mix it with mil or water and give before you breastfed.
It can make them a little constipated btw so plenty of fluids

DS is 7 now but was on it for the first 3 years if his life, you can mix with water or mix with milk either is fine.

Thanks really daft questioned about expressed milk can you put it straight in fridge or does it need to sit out and cool a bit first

I always put it straight in the fridge (or freezer!).

I was EFB and mixed Gaviscon for DS with cooled boiled water to give on tsp but can't remember if it was before or after feeds...
