Emla cream on dd's head

My 6 year old is having a biopsy on a growth on her head. We have been given Emla cream to put on it before. I've used Emla cream before, but not on a head. I'm not sure if I'm being stupid, but how will I do it, as the plaster thing that holds it in place, obviously won't stick because of her hair. Any ideas?

Apply it normally and give it a good rub in (is it isn't tender). The dressing is just to stop it being rubbed off.
