She's 10 years old and been in hospital for checks as it started off with spots on her lower legs now the spots are all over her legs / arms / hands . Her urine is being monitored due to it affecting her kidneys , This virus is to do with her immune system . She's also lost the use of her legs . Has anyone experienced this before . Thanku for reading . Emma . Xx

Hi
Yes, my dd had this when she was 4 (now 14). I'm away on holiday at the moment so no time to post details but if you put HSP into search facility, a few threads will come up, including several posts I've made.
Basically, my dd had quite bad kidney damage (sent to GOSH for treatment) but although still under annual review, had no lasting effects of the virus. Steroids for 6 months, but has led a completely normal life since.

Sorry, no time for more at mo....
Good luck.

My sister had this when she was 6 (she's in her late 20s now). She had bleeds into her joints and digestive system mainly, as well as the little spots on the skin you describe. I remember she was very ill in hospital for several weeks, then had a long recovery period (months) at home. She had pains in her joints for a long time and was painfully skinny for a while due to damage to her digestive system, but had no long term problems and is hale and hearty now!

It was horrible at the time, particularly because it seems to be quite unpredictable what parts of the body will be affected, and how the illness will progress. She could be weak for a long time, but the long term outlook is very good.
