Perforated eardrum and swimming - 9 month old

Poor 9 mo DS has a perforated eardrum thanks to a heavy cold. Unfortunately, the absolute highlight of his week is swimming which I understand we're going to have to avoid for a while, especially as he goes under the water. Does anyone know how long we need to avoid it for? If anyone says two months, I shall be gutted...Confused

Hi. My dd perforated her eardrum prob about five weeks ago. We were told to wait for about 6 weeks then take her back to doc to check if healed before swimming.Hmm

We are waiting on ent for glue ear so waiting till early march appointment to check ear drum. My dd is 3 so ballet replaced swimming for now!

I decided wasn't worth an infection. She complained today of whistling in her ear when outside so fear it's not healed yet..

HTH.

Worth seeing if he'll wear a silicone swimming hat. My ds has a permanent perforation, which is really painful if he puts his head under water but with a swimming hat all is good!

Much as I'd love to swap ballet for swimming, I think DS might not quite be ready...Grin

Six weeks?! Oh dear. Do they do baby swimming caps? He'd look dead cute but I can see him getting a bit pissed off with it...
