Swollen pusy looking willy

So going on holiday at 9am...
Ds2 (4) said he had a sore willy this am. Looked a bit red but nothing else so put some sudo cream on and he seemed ok. Mil looked after the kids while i packed this avo and she said he kept complaining that it hurt. Had a look and it's very swollen. He pulled the foreskin back to show me where it really hurts and it looks awful. Where the fore skin and penis join there is bright green pus, not gunky but looks like a spot would before its burst.
I have put canestan on it but having googled I'm now a bit panicky. DH still at work and now all 3 dc's in bed. Do I wake him when dh returns and take him to out of hours or hope the cream does the trick?

Sounds like balanitis. Infection under foreskin. Happens a lot when boys are growing and 'down there' is catching up. As its pussy, he may need antibiotics. Does he have a temp?

Gumps · 21/02/2013 20:23

No I don't think so. Fast asleep so will check in a bit. Currently in the bath!
Dh just came home and I asked him to have a look. He said I don't know what I can add. Surely the fact that he has a willy makes him more qualified than me?!

My son had it but he didn't have a temp. GP examined it and because it was pussy, she gave him antibiotics. My son has had it a few times but it can resolve on its own but if your ds does have a temp, might be worth trying to get him antibiotics. If not, it might go,away ok with a bit of washing etc

Thanks tazmo. Dh had pointed out that its not a flight and center parcs can wait if he needs to be seen. Think it could well be balinitis as the symptoms seem to fit.

Remember there's a health centre at centerparcs.

Hi. My ds has had this a few times, doc told me it is VERY common and just to sit him in the bath and get him to pull back the foreskin, all of a sudden the pus should leave and the swelling will disappear, obv if it doesn't clear up he will need the antibiotics but my ds has never got to that stage. Hope he gets better soon Smile

Tazmo you truly are a fountain of all knowledge.

Ds has had this many times. Needed antibiotics each time. His is caused by bubbles in the bath. We put a bath bomb in recently from Lush which also caused same problem. We can't use anything in his bath.
Just out of curiosity, how far does his foreskin pull back? Ds is 7 and his barely moves...

tazmo · 21/02/2013 22:39

Tough. He's only 7 so I hear the prob can be caused because they grown quicker than foreskin gros!!! Wouldn't know - but know, dad was circumcised because of tight foreskin!!! Not thru choice or religion. Know my friends hubby also had probs with fertility due to too tight foreskin so keep an eye but don't be overly worried!p

Thanks Frazzled. I may be jinxing myself but he hasn't woken so hopefully canestan is helping. He pulled his foreskin quite far back to show me so don't think that's a problem. I never touch their foreskin as I thought you weren't supposed to? All the American sites when I googled the symptoms were slightly hysterical about not even letting the doctor pull it back. I guess of they do it themselves they l ow their level of pain so won't do it too far.
