travel sickness remedies

Hi,
Can anyone recommend any effective travel sickness meds for a 3 year old?
Ds2 gets sick in car, on trains, very motion sensitive.
Anyone found anything non drowsy or with no side effects?
We have to do fairly regular long journeys for hospital appointments and the sickness really upsets Ds and I hate to see him ill, it makes the days incredibly stressful Sad

Have you tried travel bands. My friend uses them on her DD who gets travel sickness. She recommended them to me when I had bad morning sickness and they really helped.

I really feel for you, it makes journeys so upsetting and stressful. Ds1's travel sickness started around the same age (he's now 8). We tried lots without much success. We haven't found any non-drowsy medication that works. Our best solution is for him to always sit in the front seat, never have milk before a journey and stop every hour. We also changed to a non-french car (apparently french cars have softer suspension) which has helped. He never reads or watches DVDs in car, always has to look out of window.

For long haul flights he was prescribed phenergan which does make him v sleepy but that's preferable to throwing up eight or nine times. Not sure if your ds might be too young for that and probably not what you are looking for anyway.

dd has used joyrides travel sickness tablets for school trips and long journeys since she was about five. she's 7 now and is never sick when she takes them but often is when she doesn't. I don't know what age they can be used from though.

Joyrides and travel bands have worked for us, though you need to make sure the bands are in the right place.
My YD is great now as we set off for any journey over 20 minutes I tell her to go to sleep and she does; like turning off a light bulb. I hope you get as lucky as me becasue the vomit cleaning otherwise is draining.

Thanks all for the drug and non drug ideas,
Have ordered travel bands and joy rides so hopefully between them they will help Smile.
nicnocknoo I will keep phenargen in mind for when he's older, had forgotten we used it for ds1 years ago on a long ferry journey!

We use traveleeze chewy sweets, would be half for a 3 year old. It says on the packet they can cause drowsiness, but they never have for us. They work brilliantly, one tablet lasts all day. Buy behind counter in boots,

We swear by Traveleeze too, they dont taste bad either which helps dd take them. Also great as you can give for up to 24 hrs before, great for school trips & also helps I think because I'm sure the taking of a tablet just before travelling make dd feel about feeling sick.

I feel much calmer now I have some different ways of hopefully combating it one way or the other Smile
