Child having night terrors?

My 3 yr old wakens pretty much every night around the same time, screaming, appears to be still sleeping and can't be pacified. He screams more if you touch him. He usually then farts a few times and cries some more then goes to sleep. I wondered was he in pain, as in trapped wind. Wonder what I cud do to help him. He has very regular bowel motions 2-3 times a day so it's not constipation and the motions appear normal. Any ideas?

you could try gently stirring him on your way to bed to disturb the sleep pattern. It worked with DD when she was having night terrors.

My youngest dd 2.3 has been having these for about 6 months. After reading on here about the 'wake to sleep'method a few days ago I tried gently waking her the past 2 nights around 15 mins before she would usually wake up. It worked! The last 2 nights she has slept like a log.

Hi weebuns my ds suffered from these for a few years some tips we picked upfrom endless googling was never try to wake them during the terror ... as has already been said try to wake them just before they are due to start with them... but the one that really helped was to put a wet cold cloth on their feet to bring down their temp its was the only thing that worked on my ds they are awful things . Evennow at 16he has the occasional one and i make sure we put a cold damp cloth on him to help him cool down and bring them out of it .
