Scarlet Fever experiences - how long until the strawberry tongue went away?

My dd has had a 10 day course of antibiotics to treat a mild case of scarlet fever (she was perfectly well with it and still is) her elbows still have a bit of red mark on them which has gone silvery this morning so looks like the last of the rash is gone, and her tongue looks much less red and almost normal except that it is still covered in the large blistery things that give it the strawberry appearance. I will take her to the doctors tomorrow to set my mind at rest as I'm worried for some reason the antibiotics haven't worked (panicing at the thought of rheumatic fever). But did anybody elses' child's tongue to take a while to go even after the antibiotics cleared up the infection? Or did symptoms go very quickly?
Anyone have any experience with this?

I should say, the creases of her elbows were still a bit red last night, but have since gone silvery this morning.
