Dd is 11 and has felt rough all day. She looks very pale and has a sore chest with no cough.
She has now got a temperature of 39 and a headache.
I'm quite worried as she's never ill.
Just thought it was odd to have the sore chest with no cough or cold.

pleurisy

BeaWheesht · 07/02/2013 18:25

I don't think it sounds like classic pleurisy by the way but was the only thing I could think of really

ledkr · 07/02/2013 18:27

No there's no sharp pain just a soreness to the chest when she tried to cough or breathe deeply. Just waiting for paracetamol to work. Never seen her this poorly.

That sounds just like pleurisy as I understood it?

Yes I will do but the symptoms are so odd I thought I'd get opinions while I wait for the callback. Thank you.

My Ds had similar . It was silent pneumonia , no cough. High temp, sore abdomen etc.
Get it checked out as Ds ended up in hospital for two weeks as he was undiagnosed for 3 weeks.

FoodieToo · 08/02/2013 21:12

By the way Ds was examined by Gp 4 times, then by doc in hospital, then by head of a and e in hospital.

Nothing to be heard in chest. Pneumonia only diagnosed after x ray.

ledkr · 08/02/2013 21:18

Blimey that's awful.
I saw go today but will go back if she is worse she actually seems slightly better tonight.
My baby dd had pneumonia at 6 days hers was sudden and a quick deterioration so aways cautious now.

Sorry don't mean to alarm you!
Probably not pneumonia but just to bear it in mind.
Hope she is well soon .

Arcticdream · 08/02/2013 21:43

ledkr · 08/02/2013 21:54

DS1(18) had this last weekend, then his throat felt raw, and he has had a hacking cough, really bad cold, shivers, aches and pains all week! He has managed 2 days at school.

DS2(16)started to come down with it on Wednesday night, but had to go to school yesterday because he has science GCSE work. He is coughing like he is on 50 a day, he is asthmatic, and I had to change his bed twice last night because he was sweating so much!

It's nasty!
