Conjunctivitis - will it be ok using drops only 3x instead of recommended 4x?

DS has been prescribed 1 drop 4 times a day. Do you think it would be ok if I only used it 3 times a day? Otherwise it would mean having to go to school to do it during the day and this would upset him (he hates seeing me during the day and then me having to go eg. always gets upset after a class assembly when the parents have to then leave). Alternatively, would it matter if the 4 times weren't evenly spaced throughout the day? ie. one in the morning, 1 straight after school and then 2 in the evening?

I would do it that way, if you can spread them out enough, I do that with AB's

Which way, the 4 times spread out or the only 3 times? (thanks!)

You need to follow the instructions. He needs the drops 4 x per day. Is there a nurse at the school who could give them to him?

I don't think there is a nurse but I will check. I often see parents in the office giving their child medicine at lunchtime so I just presumed that's what we'd have to do. Perhaps I will try just spreading them out so I don't have to do it at school (giving one in the middle of the night maybe).

Bunching up the dosage is fine.

Conjunctivitis is self-limiting so it will resolve itself no matter what really Smile

One dose before school.
One dose straight after school.
One dose at teatime.
One dose at bedtime.

And yes, it will probably get better whatever you do.

My gp won't prescribe anything for conjunctivitis anymore, said it makes no difference - I would just give three.
