Colic!

My DS is 7 weeks and has colic.

We use infacol, dentenox, have dr. brown bottles.

He was on aptmail comfort but i changed it yesterday to sma hungry milk, he takes 6oz every 2-3 hours. I give him boiled water if he wakes again for food between a 4 hour period but he screams until i give him food!
I was even thinking of a dummy, i havent gave him one but it will give him more wind or it could settle him.

Is there anything else i can do to help him/make it settle a little more?

This helped us. Play it as load as you can when your DS is upset and hold him in a sling if you can.

Good luck.

Thank you! I will try that tonight!

If he is having 8 x 6 oz of milk a day, eg 48oz of milk per day that is way, way too much. Or is he not feeding much in the night and therefore not consuming that much over course of 24 hours?

Could be he is a sucky baby. It is easy to overfeed sucky bottle-fed babies. I would deffo try a dummy.

Is it definitely colic? Any symptoms of reflux or silent reflux? What does the HV think?

I tried the white noise he was having none of it!

He has 6oz each feed of sma extra hungry milk(in rusk in milk before bed, i know you shouldnt be he screams)

He feeds fine, going to the toilet fine.

Thats what im thinking a dummy but its extreme the way he wakes up/wont settle.

HV said colic but my mum has a few baby sleeping books and i think he has silent reflux.

He screams and screams when hes awake and i read that they drink loads to stop the heartburn. Im at my wits end, he has been awake since 1pm and had 15oz since 6.40 then he went to sleep.

I dont think the wind is the problem he just needs something to settle him/make him sleep longer. Off to the GP tomorrow.

Poor you, sorry I couldn't help. Why don't you repost this in breast and bottle feeding. Silent reflux is a constant topic there.
Good luck. It is so hard when they cry like that!

You need medication if it is silent reflux. I would recommend videoing a feed on your phone and showing it to the GP.

You may be prescribed Infant Gaviscon and/or Ranitidine.

There are anti-reflux formulas on sale. We are using SMA Staydown for Reflux but both Aptamil and Cow & Gate now make a specific anti-reflux formula. Have a Google.

It's bloody hard with a refluxy baby. Look after yourself.

How did you get on with the GP today OP?
