Hmm Dd is in reception and has long thick hair. I knew this day would come. She woke itching and crying a couple of hours ago. I had a nitty gritty comb and have attacked it with the conditioner.. I got 4/5 big moving ones and quite a lot of flecks...

What's the general rule? Should I keep her off tomorrow and re-comb/ treat? She is going to be wrecked now anyway. Have changed bed and pjs, what else do I need to know?

Don't keep her off school. Either use lotion from the pharmacist. NOT SHAMPOO, or keep doing the conditioner combing. In any case conditioner comb every week til she goes to uni.

Should I tell school in the morning

Yes, tell school. And tie her hair back in plaits or something so it doesn't swish everywhere.
I always think its polite to tell any parents of kids DD has a close relationship with too.

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 31/01/2013 00:13

It's always tied back..

Dont expect school to do anything though. Headlice are about as common as colds and you wouldn't expect parents to be told about those. You can keep your dd lice free though, unlike cold free.

Ug horrid beasties. just keep combing every other day, the her hair back and tell the school as they may want to send out a letter. I'd also tell dd's friend's mums so they can check sooner rather than later on their own. hideous beasts but they can be beaten. good luck in the battle!

typing on phone so crap punctuation

*tie her hair
