Eye tests - stupid question

DS2's teacher has suggested we get DS2's eyes tested. I'm being really dim here but do I just ring up someone such as Vision Express or Spec Savers to book an appointment. Will it cost me anything or is it free for children? Or do I have to go to specific options (i.e. NHS ones like you have with dentists?). Sorry if I am being really dim!

Sight tests are free for all under 16s (and up to 19 if in education). So you can just call up :)

I thought that was probably the case, thanks! I'll ring now :)
