Dd having foreign object removed from her nose <bauk>

Well, went to get dd1 (3) to see an ENT specialist, and he examined her to see if she had glue ear, and then looked up her nose. He said he thought there was something there, and ENT us to get X-rays done.

So, went to the appointment today, and he said he could see something still up there, even though nothing came up on the X-ray.

Anyway, he tries with some surgical tweezers to remove whatever it is, and I can only describe it as alien like. He couldn't get it all out, and dd needs now to be sedated to remove whatever is put there.

Anyone's dc have anything this weird? I know she had a phase of putting things up her nose, but she was 2 at the time or has anyones dc had this procedure done?

Anybody?

Never seen anything removed from nose by doctor, but Dd once stuck a beed up there "because she didn't want to lose it" and DM has informed me that I stuck a pink sweet up my nose & produced pink snot until it dissolved!

I'm a nurse and I have lost count of the amount of children I've seen with things stuck up their noses or in their ears. Peas, Lego, small plastic bits off toys, coins, anything.

If they can't do it with tweezers then they'll make them sleepy to remove whatever it is. It's really common!

When I was first teaching years ago, there was a little girl in the next door class who began getting terrible breath.. No-one could work out why and her parents became quite concerned. Eventually she told them that she had stuffed a tissue right up her nose once, but hadnt said at the time in case she got into trouble.....Anyhow, this tissue had been festering up her nose for 6 months - hence the terrible breath!

My mum tells me that when I was a toddler she noticed I had smokers' breath - apparently I had stuck a cigarette end up my nose!

He got a sweet wrapper (from a tin of chocs) stuck up his nose once. He'd never done anything like that before or since.

Well, he couldn't do it today, but next week we are going to have her adenoids out and they're going to remove whatever it is up there as well, as it's well and truly stuck, and we think its been there a while

We have had the bad breath thing, and funky looking snot. But thought we hadn't cleaned her teeth properly.

And, I don't think our Bupa covers it, and it may cost us $2k. Crappola!!!!

Last week 18mo DS stuck a raisin up one nostril. Took him to A andE and the ear nose and throat place and he wouldn't sit still enough to give them a good look. They couldn't see anything up there on a quick look and he hasn't shown signs of being bothered... So we're basically waiting now for the raisin to go off... If it does then we know something is up there and they'll remove it under sedation. An glad to hear its common. Felt like the worst mum in the world last week because he did it sitting right in front of me... Lodged it in the entrance and when I stood up to try and get close he sucked it up...! Hopefully right down his into his tummy but we just don't know..
