DS (aged 3.5) has had a red cheek since last Saturday. It got worse as the week went on and had spread to both cheeks by Thursday. No temperature and was otherwise normal. (Eating, sleeping, energy levels etc were fine).
I took him to the pharmacist on Thursday afternoon and she said that it looked like slapped cheek and have me some nhs info. She recommended giving calpol and nurofen and piriton if he was itchy. I spoke to the gp on the phone and he said that we should be in isolation for a week and that it was such a common virus that often no treatment was necessary.
He has got progressively worse since then. The redness is still on both cheeks, his chin and upper lip. His face looks swollen and sore. I gave three doses of piriton yesterday and regular calpol and nurofen as he was complaining of a headache and achy legs. No improvement today.
Does this still sound like slapped cheek or is there anything else it could be? I am planning to take him to the gp tomorrow but do I need to go to OOH today?
Thanks
