2 yr old DS still coughing 6 weeks later

DS got a bad cold during the first week in December. It cleared up in the usual way but he has been coughing (first thing in the morning only) ever since. I hear him coughing when he wakes up and then that's it for the day. He's well in all other ways and in great form apart from some back teeth coming. I've been assuming the cough would clear but wondering should I take him to the GP at this point?

Coughs can take forever to go, but no harm in getting the GP to have a look, especially if there's a family history of asthma.

Thanks bluechampagne. No history of asthma but I think I'll give it the weekend and take him next week if still coughing, cheers
