DD is 7 months old, has had cold/cough symptoms since Wednesday. She's very out of sorts, sounds nasal congested but nothing up there. Have just taken her temp and it's 38.8 DH has just spoken to a gp who said to give her calpol and brufen together and only get concerned if her temp goes over 39.5 DH diesel have a huge amount of confidence with the gp. Am I just being PFB? I've stripped her to a vest because of her fever.

Personally I'd be getting her checked - a fever of almost 39 in a 7 month ok is high IMHO and I think she most likely has a chest or ear infection.

Was meant to say doesn't not diesel! That's her armpit temp. She's just dropped off into a fitful sleep, I co-sleep with her. So much conflicting advice available!

Oh armpit temp I'd definitely get her seen as I'm almost certain you add a degree to that for it to be accurate? Google to check but I'm sure that's the case.

Ps check when she's breathing in that there's no 'tugging' around the tracheal area and that the area under her ribs isn't sucking right in. If it is you really need her seen now.

RSV is a virus which can cause symptoms you describe and lead to bronchiolitis in little ones.

I took her to gp this morning after an awful night of her clinging onto DH's arm for comfort. One of her eardrums is red but not bulging so just lots of tlc. Have just taken her temp and it's finally down to 36.9 and she's a lot brighter. I think it may have been the worst.
