After I had my wisdom teeth out, I took ibuprofen and paracetamol. I took 2 brufen then two hours later 2 paracetamol and so on so that I was never without pain relief.

An ice pack helped reduce the swelling.

Arnica for a ew days beforehand helped with the swelling.

Avoided hot food, sugar, meat, fish etc to reduce the chance of infection.

The hospital will provide after care advice though, so following that and giving plenty of hugs would be my advice.
