8 year old boy with lump under nipple

I took him to the doctor just before xmas. He sent us away with antibiotics in case there was an infection. We were then called for a follow up appointment. The lump was and still is there. DS complains that it's sore. The Doctor this time told me it was hormonal, not to worry, but it was unusual in a boy as young as 8. He reckoned he sees at least one case just like my DS in his surgery each week. But the boys are 11 or 12 years old.

Of course I googled Shock and all the articles went on about were man boobs Sad

The lump isn't noticeable under clothing. But I would hate for him to go through anything abnormal at his age.

The Dr has referred us to a paediatrician who may or may not want to see him.

I try not to think about this too much, but I must admit I'm worried.

Has anyone else had experience of this? Thanks X

My DS had similar story but he was 11 when we first noticed swelling, have been back to doctors and seen specialist, general view is that it is hormonal and nothing to worry about - does not stop me worrying and DS is now nearly 14. It does seem to flare up at times and be more noticeable when swimming or under any tight fitting tee shirts. DS seems ok with it and I try not to be too paranoid (difficult though)
Hope that helps

Thanks Moca I find myself looking at it when DS is in the bath, just to make sure it's not getting bigger. I sort of hope we do end up seeing a specialist, just to put my mind at rest. (Probably won't work though!)
