Toddler vitamin supplements

Whilst at a children's centre recently I was reading a 'top tips for healthy toddlers' poster which recommended that toddlers be given vitamin drops. DS is just about to turn 2 and has been plagued by loads of the childhood viruses already. He also has grommets in for severe glue ear and recurrent ear infections.
So it is something that interests me - but I've had a look around and all the ones I see are for 3yrs +? anyone know more?

My DD2 who has just turned one has Abidec drops/syrup - has needed them for a while as has a couple of allergies.

You can purchase from any supermarket.

DD1 aged 7.9yrs now has Sainsbury's multi-vitamins for kids. Used to have chewable ones when she was younger.

I use Abidec and I buy them from boots. I see them in Asda and Waitrose. They are good from birth. I'm not sure where you live but vitamins are recommended from 6mo (or from when they take in less than 500ml of formula). It's really a very common thing people buy Hmm

I give my toddler formula milk a few times a week for the vitamins and minerals.

Oh I must be having some sort of turn then because I've never seen them in supermarkets - and the pharmacist in Boots I asked looked at me blankly when I asked!
Thank you all Grin

all the tablets are 3+ but we got sanatogen liquid for toddlers from sainsburys

We used a well kids multi vitamin liquid till DD was at least 3, got it in Boots, or supermarket. It reassured me that anything she want eating didn't majorly matter.

could the age recommendation be because tablets are a choking risk with under 3's?

You get a dosing guide with medicine but I haven't seen one for vitamins - if my 2 year old needs the same amount of vitamins than my 3yr old then I'd give him the tablets. He can eat sweets with no problems so I'm sure he'd manage a fruit flavoured vitamin tablet!

I'd also recommend Abidec, this is the only one I have ever been able to get my 2yo to take. You are supposed to give it to them straight my I put it in a glass of milk and it's the only one he doesn't notice. I get it from my local pharmacy.
