Can you answer my (not terribly exciting) nits Question please??

DD1 (6) had itching last night (31 Dec) from nits. We have zapped with chemicals and nitty gritted so hopefully on top of it.

However i am curious as to where she got them from.

Her last contact at school was 21 Dec and then we saw no children (only grandparents) until 27 Dec when we met some friends (3 DC, all boys with pretty short hair) for lunch in a pub. The children were not really in close contact at all as sat at the table.

Does anyone know what the 'normal' transfer/incubation time is? I would say there were only 4-5 reasonable sized nits and the rest just small black dots.

TIA Smile

she might have had 1 from school, then they will have populated her head slowly

the small back dots are the eggs, ready to hatch

those are the ones you need to get rid of totally

According to Wiki itching starts 3-4 weeks after initial infestation, so they probably picked them up at school.

OldLady you do seem to know something Grin

Thanks Smile

I think school is the most plausible scenario tbh, so will keep an eye on DD2 and do a precautionary nitty gritty i think.

Nah, not me, Wiki! Grin It ties in with my experience when dc were younger though, clear all summer and infested by mid-September. (Scotland, our schools went back the third week of August)

Why is my head itching? Psychosomatic lice!
