Yet another chickenpox question - pus-filled bumps on palms?

DD has had chickenpox for around 8 days now. All seem to have scabbed over except for 4-5 on her palms which have become tiny pus-blisters.

I'm starting to wonder if these ones are a secondary infection but they're not red or sore at all. She's definitely back to 110% health apart from this and is bouncing off the walls in the house after a week indoors now.

Perhaps the palms of the hands just heal differently because the skin is a little different.

Has anyone else seen this?

Could it be that she has now got hand foot and mouth? My dd had chickenpox really badly, spots everywhere but not on her palms. The only time she got spots on her palms was with hand foot and mouth. (& she got that a couple of days after her MMR, totally unrelated but confused even the docs!).

On the palms of hands skin is a lot thicker so lesions may not erupt and scab over like they do elsewhere. In the mouth and on the eyes they are more like ulcers and don't crust at all.

I've checked out hand, foot and mouth on the net and it doesn't really match. These blisters have been itchy rather than sore and began identically to the other chickenpox spots. The only difference has been that instead of scabbing, they've stayed under the skin and appear much slower to heal.

I think Willdoit is probably correct about the thicker skin on the palms preventing scabbing. In this case, I'm not sure whether she will still be contagious or not. Very confusing!
