My little girl will be 7 in April and at her assessment with a paediatrician we were told her head was measuring very small, he said it was small enough to be classed as microcephaly, I didn't ask the size but measured at home and came out at 49cm just wondered how small it actually is compared to other children this age? We are waiting to see a geneticist

My dd was 9 in October, her head measurement is 50cm, but she is very petite and in proportion.

Wondering if i should be worried now.

Sorry if I worried you, she does have other problems as well with learning and behaviour there is a condition they think she has so I guess if your little one isn't displaying other issues some people are just small x

NK, don't worry - DD has a tiny head - aged 13, she still has to wear the smallest ski helmetsGrin It is probably about 50-55cm. She is a perfectly normal 13yo, just has a small head!

I have one twin awake so just measured for you and her head is 50cm (just). She is 7 1/2 yrs. My head is 53cm so not huge either. Hope all is ok with your little girl.

I found this - it's from Australia, though.

According to that, 49 cm at 6 years 8 months would place her on the 2nd Centile.

DS2 has always had a small head (just below 2nd centile). He was monitored by paeds for 3 yrs and they discharged him as his head was growing at the same rate as the rest of him but was just smaller. I will measure it later but he looks in proportion iykwim
