About ten days ago, my 2.5yo DD was in pain when she went for a wee. This happened a few times over the course of a few hours o later that day we took her to the out of hours GP. Her urine sample was tested with a dipstick and showed leukocytes, protein and blood. The GP sent her sample to the lab for sulture and sensitivity testing. She also started her on ABs.

By the following morning, she was no longer in pain and I presumed the ABs had done the job. She completed the course and has had no pain since.

I called the GP for her lab urine test results and they came back as clear for bacteria, but showed white blood cells. So basically, no bacterial infection it would seem.

She has since had her urine retested with the dipstick and it still shows leukocytes, protein and blood. The GP has sent a second sample to the lab now too.

I can't fathom how she seemed to respond to the ABs, if there was no bacteria present.

Also, what else could these findings represent. The GP didn't seem bothered and said there can be all sorts of reasons white blood cells, protein and blood in a toddler's urine.

She is absolutely well. The only thing she had recently (at the same time as the painful wees) was conjunctivitis. This cleared by itself after a few days.

Can anyone offer any advice?
