Will try and keep this brief - ds2 has had a nasty cough for about 7-8 weeks now. He started with a cold and cough but then became very ill one night with temp and coughing til he was sick. This has happened a few times, but not every night. We bought a humidifier to help and the gp gave him a course of ABs, inhaler and prednisilone. None of it has really helped. Last night yet again he had a high temp, was shivering and coughing til he was retching :( got very little sleep. Rang ooh gp and they saw him him, I queried whooping cough and she agreed it could be and sent him to hospital to be checked and have a chest x ray. Chest x ray fine, chest clear, temp under control with calpol etc. Could it be whooping cough? Even if he doesn't cough badly every night? I am so tired and he has missed a lot of pre school. Am worried about how long this is lasting...oh and he has viral spots/rash too! :(

How is he right now?
Does he have little perky spells or mostly lethargic?

Its really really odd...some days he doesnt cough that much and has decentish nights, but when he is bad its awful..he is drinking but finds eating tough at times. He seems ok - is just watching octonauts - and keeps asking to go swimming :( he also wants to go to pre school tomorrow but will depend on what sort of night he has...I just don't know what else to do :(
