Rotavirus:redux

Ds2 appears to have rotavirus again. He had it when he was 3 months old and was properly ill with it. He's had an on/off runny bum
For a couple of days. Not consistent at all so I didn't think it was anything sinister.

Thisormkng however he woke up with that funny smell that goes along with it. So well done me for not realising and a BIG sorry to anyone we've inadvertently infected. Anyway he's well enough in himself , still eating like a horse although we are watching his diet. He's not been sick except for a teeny bit in the early hours of this morning and three stinky bums today.

So being the festive season we've a load of stuff on. Luckily I can cancel
Most of it or its not until
The end of next week. Given that his last smelly was not that bad, ie not leaking and the nappy had absorbed it, how long until he's clear do you think?

48 hours from last runny nappy / sickness afaik

However given that he's eating and ok otherwise I'd be surprised if its rotavirus tbh?

He had that smell though, really off fishy stink, poor mite. No bad nappies since yesterday afternoon but have cancelled everything for Monday anyway. Ds1 is not going to be amused when I tell him his play date is off though. His little friend has low immunity so it's the only thing to do.

Wish me luck when I tell him. Confused

Well you are absolutely doing the right thing.
You dont always get vomiting with rotavirus, ESP after the first bout iirc.
Home he feels better soon x

Me too, we're back to smelly nappies again this morning. Just as we were leaving for the school run.

Eldest disappointed but understood because he's been the victim of illness this term because other parents wouldn't keep their kids off.

Youngest annoyed because I
Carried him to and from school to keep him away from others. Fun, fun, fun.

Hope he's better soon he's got a party on Friday.

My ds2 has whooping cough (we think) at the moment and so will probably is his first ever pre school nativity. I am heartbroken, but that's life.
When my ds2 had rotavirus when he was 13 m he was really really ill and the runs/smelly nappies lasted for over 2 weeks.
Sorry x

OscarPistoriusBitontheside · 17/12/2012 11:34

This is the second time so was hoping it'd not be as bad. Now the vomiting has arrived. Bugger.

Hope your ds is over his whopping cough soon. That's rotten luck.

Oh bugger indeed :(
With ds2 he had bad runs first then vomiting.
Hope it's just a 48 hour thing.
Think I will be keeping ds2 off all week tbh...

We're at the painful wind stage and he ate tea. This is good isn't it? All be it uncomfortable for him. Poor little dude.
