Hi
My DD1 who is 2+4m seems to constantly be ill. Since mid Oct she had a virus resulting in a strep throat (given antibiotics), alongside this she got contsipated and had to have movicol, straight into hand foot and mouth, then croup (got steroids) followed by a hideous cough and cold - then a gap of a week and a half and her temp is up, another disturbed night for her and today she's not at full speed again. Is this normal? Am laying in bed at night worrying about the fact there may be an underlying issue. Will take her to GP next week (again) but wondered what other people's experiences were? She's such a lovely little girl and I feel so sorry for her.

Thanks
PS - have mentioned to GP continuous illness but no comment or reassurances.
PPS - she's not at nursery but we do go to three or four parent and toddler play sessions a week.

It's normal. They go through phases. You could try a probiotic ( not one of those yoghurty drinks but a powder that can be put on cereal or in a drink). That might help especially if been on antibiotics.

Yes, my children were constantly ill on and off throughout the toddler group / pre-school / nursery years. One cold after another and they had all had most of the common childhood illnesses by their third birthdays. Fast forward five or so years and they are now very rarely ill. Three out of the four had 100% attendance last school year and the other only had one day off in the whole year. I sometimes joke that they must have some of the strongest immune systems in the county.

Thanks to all, it's hard to know what 'normal' is sometimes!
Have a lovely - hopefully germ free - Christmas.
Xmas Smile

Yes, normal (doesn't stop us worrying though), my dd had a couple years like this, had scarlet fever, constant colds, tummy bugs etc.., she's now 6 and still gets ill but not as much as when she was 2 or 3.
