my son has had this stomach bug that has been going round, it started a week ago, he stopped eating and drinking, thankfully he has started drinking small bits but still not for eating although the symptons of the bug have gone, i know they say as long as there drinking thats all that matters but i know he is losing weight and keeps crying and i think its because hes hungry, i have tried all his favourite foods any one have any ideas how i can get him eating

How old is he? My son does this. e is now 5 and I have just had to get used to the fact that he appetite returns very slowly. nice it does though, he really really eats!!

Just keep the fluids up and let him eat what and when he wants to...

(Scary isn't it?!)

Are you sure he doesn't also have a sore throat? My DSs stop eating when they have a sore throat, and only very mild, soft food will get them eating again. They love ravioli with a butternut squash sauce - all very mild.

My 16 m.o. DD has just had sickness and diarrhoea too and was crying with hunger but refusing food. I had a box of baby rice in the cupboard and mixed a tiny bit with boiling water, let it cool a bit and then fed her that. We also gave her warm water to drink - either partially cooled boiling water or boiled and cold water mixed. It has worked a treat. Hope he get's better soon xxx
