Toddler nose bleeding

DS is 23 mo. Has been perma-snot since cold weather started... But this morning his nose is bleeding out of one nostril. He's been off his food as of yesterday but still appears happy enough. It's not frank blood, like a nose bleed but definitely very bloody mucous.
I am assuming this is nothing to be concerned about?...

Hello Icouldstillbejoseph, I'm not a doctor but all my kids are little bleeders! You only have to look at them with a Paddington hard stare and they spontaneously spout blood from their noses - I was the same, but less so as I've got older. When we have colds it's worse. I remember when my DTDs were about 18 months old we went to California on holiday. They had horrible colds and runny bums (great fun flight -but that's another story!) and their noses were full of bloody shot like you describe. It was so bad their nostrils 'scabbed' over and we had to torture them every few hours with warm flannels so they could breath. They survived and are 11 now. I've been to the doctors more than once to ask for help but it seems not a lot can be done. I had my nose cauterised as a child - NEVER inflict this on anyone! It didn't work and hurts more than childbirth! - That was a long winded way of saying - don't worry - weak blood vessel that bleeds when you blow your nose. x
