Cradle cap

My 3 m/o dd has cradle cap over her eyebrows, top of forehead and front of hair line. The tiny bit on her eyebrows i've been putting e45 cream on which clears it for about a day normally, but now theres so much im not sure if its ideal covering her in cream each day

couple of questions sorry, was wondering if it clears up when left alone or if its better to put creams on? If it itchs her like dry skin? If anything causes it (was wondering if its worth changing baby bath from johnsons if its making her skin sensitive)? And how long it usually lasts?

Both of my daughters had cradle cap as newborns. I was reluctant to use any products at first, but IME, if you leave it unattended, it gets worse. So:

1. I think it's best to treat it
2. No, it doesn't itch
3. It's not clear what causes it, but it's commonly thought to be overacting sebaceous glands. Soaps that you're currently using might be exacerbating it, so I would change from Johnsons.

A product that I found cleared it (in about 10 days) and then kept it away, was Dentinox Cradle Cap Shampoo. I used this in conjunction with ordinary olive oil. The cradle cap will soften after 5-7 days of doing this, then will slough off with some gentle rubbing with a soft flannel.

I used to put olive oil on DD's scalp, let it soak in for a bit, then massage a little bit of baby shampoo in gently at bathtime to lift the flakes of dead skin off (sorry). I think many babies grow out of it quite quickly, but for those that don't, once they're older you can use special shampoo like capasal.

Having read Molotov's post, I've remembered that we also used Dentinox, not baby shampoo, for the one with cradle cap.

I tried olive oil on my DS.He had it until his hair started to grow at age 21/2 but he had very sensitive skin and we had to avoid soap etc. Then I discovered that Waitrose bottom butter did the trick. It is olive oil in solid form and great for sensitive skins. I had a pot for each end.
