Friend's DS is seriously ill

He's only 2 years old :( We're not that close (geographically or friend-wise, I'd count her as a friend rather than acquaintance though) I really feel for her, it must be awful. I keep letting her know I'm thinking of her but I don't know if there's anything else I can do.

How sad. Can you organise a small online shop for them - ice cream, ready meals etc.? If you could arrange with a friend who lives nearby for it to be delivered to them and they take it round that would work.

So sorry to hear that Bertie, it shakes you up to think of kids you know being ill.

If she has any other kids- maybe offer free babysitting, or if she wants to spend quality time with the 2 y.o., whisk round the house with a hoover/do the washing up etc? I think the practical things say the most to be honest- you might spend ages thinking of how to put things but a lot of things probably sound like platitudes because we're not used to dealing with these situations (hopefully). Or maybe write little mysterious letters for the two year old to open on his good days- maybe not many words, just pictures and colour?

I think Slightly's idea is really good too.

By the way, had a stalkery look at your profile and your DS is absolutely gorgeous :-)
