Is this possible? My DD is in pain tonight, so I've applied a layer of canestan in the hope that it will soothe things for her. I've had a look - there's a little redness - nothing that looks really bad, but she's in pain. We don't use soaps in the bath, I've taught her to not wipe too vigorously but always front to back.

This isn't the first time she's had a stingy vagina - what can I do? Am I right using Canestan to help her?

I wouldn't apply cream without confirmation that it is this as the cream is steriod based is it not?
I had this when I was very young, mainly itching at night but went to the doctor.
Hope she gets better soon.

Are you sure it isn't worms instead? Does she have itching from her bum too? The worms can cause redness and irritation in the whole area and are really so common in children it's estimated half of children have them at any one time. SorryIf you already know all this!

I'd visit the GP later today and see what they say.

DD has had both thrush and a UTI. Both are apparently very common in little girls. I would take her to the GP.
