DD has about 15 spots on her - face, arms and legs. They have been there a couple of days, we thought mosquito bits (live in SE Asia, lots of mosquitoes around. This is more than she would usually have, but not impossible).

One spot has got clear fluid in a head, with a couple of time fluidy bits next to it. Main head is about 6mm diameter. Some of the other spots are getting a slightly hard centre - none had a bump or centre until today.

She has had a bit of a cough and has been very tired/grumpy, but no noticeable temperature.

Her best friend has chicken pox.

I am inclined to keep her out of pre-school tomorrow and DH to take her to the GP for him to decide what it is. Googl image shows both bites and pox looking like what she has. Is this the right course of action?

Thanks.

I would assume chickenpox myself. Not sure about GP as there may be vulnerable people (eg, pregnant and never had it) in the waiting room.

Sounds like chicken pox to me. My dd just had it. She had lots of spots on head, face and body but very few on arms and legs.

She had a bit of a temp for the first day or so but was ok after that.

If she is a fairly healthy child usually with no other health problems I don't think you need the doctor unless she seems very unwell.

It sounds like chicken pox, mine have just had it. We didn't go to the doctors as all it does it spread the germs around and like chipsandcurry says, there may be people there who are at risk there. Somebody with other illnesses and low immune systems, it can be life threatening for.

Docs surgery here not like at home, no waiting room (just the street).

Little DD (17 months) of her food too...
