Any ideas?

DD (3 on Monday) has a shocking cough & cold that came on overnight last night. She's been largely fine today, very snotty and has had some big coughing sessions but it's not sounding chesty, just loud!

We have quite a lot of chicken pox around so have been checking her on & off for spots. She's got no spots but has 2 livid red patches on her cheeks, exactly as if she's gone for the Aunt Sally rouge look. They're about the size of a 1p coin and slightly shiny.

Any ideas what this could be? They don't feel warm, seem to itch or bother her at all but she really looks like a little doll and it's quite odd!

Slapped cheek disease?

Defiantly slap cheek. I had it at 19 when I was traveling, looked very much like mumps though and took a few doctors to rule mumps out for definite and diagnose slap cheek. No treatment really but may he worth a trip to dr.

Mind you my face was burning up, just re read an your dds face is not hot...is it maybe her back molers coming through. My dd tended to have small red patches when her molers came through, hers came quite late around 3, but my nephews came very early before 2.

I googled Slapped Cheek on the NHS website, and so far (!) her face is really only red in 2 teeny spots and she has no other rashes. I think I'll see if anything develops and then bother the Dr, as I suspect they'll be less than helpful if I took her today.

I'll keep her away from people, though, just in case - we're due to go 200 miles to her grandparents tomorrow for a birthday party on Sunday but I suspect we'll be staying here instead. Still, have 36 cupcakes to get through so there is a positive side to all this .
