Chicken pox limbo

Ds1 currently has a mild case of chicken pox: Spots arrived Tuesday so this is the 6th day. He had a few blisters which have now scabbed but the majority of the spots are just tiny spots which don't seem to be doing anything - they look like pink freckles. We are both getting a bit desperate to get back
out and about as the chicken pox was
preceded by a viral bug which means he's been out of circulation for over two weeks. Do I really need to wait until the pink freckles scab
over? They look pretty inactive to me, he no longer itches and he's otherwise well. I don't want to miss any more work or for him to miss more nursery but at the same time if there's even a chance I'm putting a vulnerable person at risk by taking Ds out on public again I'd rather not. Are these spots just biding their time or are they already inert?

Most of DC spots never scabbed over, they just kind of faded away.

could the pink ones be the remainder of a viral rash rather than chicken pox? The health protection agency says to exclude for 'Five days from the onset of rash' so he should be ok to go out now.

I work on the 5 day rule, yes. What else can I do?
I dunno about safe, nothing is ever safe!
For several hours we visited a friend's 2yo DS when my DS was on day 4 with active CP, hours of contact together & her DS didn't get it.

Thanks LL - sorry about misspelling your name! I'm going to give him one more day at home then send him back (nothing to do with the fact the weather is beastly out today !)
