A bit of background.....Ds2 is ( just 5) is small for his age, but is not a skinny rib - unlike his older brother. He has noonans syndrome, which can lead to smaller stature. Anyhow.. recently I have noticed his trousers are falling down , a lot , so he has obviously lost weight. he hasnt grown in height, and I havn't noticed him eating less. He has just started school, but has school dinners as he did in his nursery ( it was attached to the school, so he ate the same dinners) .

So, my question is, should I worry about his weight loss, or just keep an eye on it. He has a minor heart condition, so I am always a bit more aware with his health, but dont know what the rational response is to this.

Thank you

I would mention it to your specialist. GI problems can go hand in hand with Noonan's and it may be a digestive issue. However it could also be that he's burning off a lot more calories now running about at school with PE classes etc. Try slipping in some extra calories such as butter mixed into mashed potato etc.

Thanks, blondefriend, I didn't know that about GI issues. Will try to add extra calories, keep an eye and mention it at our next appt. Thank you

Also school dinners aren't exactly great with regards to decent portion sizes. My dd comes home starving if she has a school dinner. May be worth considering doing him packed lunch a few times a week so you can load it up with stuff that will help maintain his weight.
