Hi, continuity thread for my little DS (3) who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma last week. Much gratitude for all the support the Trazzles have received. You nasty nest of vipers, you Grin

Ah yes, well, sorry (blush), I do recall now, repeat with happy birthday DH etc.

Hope you have a good day tomorrow. The only thing to do with shit times is to parcel them up into bite size chunks and deal with them like that and look back at the good bits. It sounds as if you are good at doing that

Have a good evening.

LegArmpits · 13/11/2012 21:03

Thinking of you Trazzles often, and sending some more splodges from Barry again. All crossed for good results! X

ShiftyFades · 13/11/2012 22:12

Hope the chemo and ultrasounds go well tomorrow. Always thinking of you all xxx

bobkate · 13/11/2012 22:35

Yep - another one still thinking of you and mini trazzles...and wishing you all the best for Friday. Glad the bone marrow went well. Everything crossed xx

Just a mid-week wing flap and hello!! x

thewhistler · 14/11/2012 19:54

Splodge moving slowly on a bus here.

BehindLockNumberNine · 14/11/2012 22:27

Still splodging from Surrey x

Just found out the little sister of one of dd's classmates has been diagnosed with neuroblastoma. She was diagnosed just weeks before her first birthday. She is being treated at great ormond street...

Hope the handsome Joe is doing as well as can be.

Hang in there x

narmada · 14/11/2012 22:27

Thinking of you from deepest Surrey. All the luck in the world for Friday.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 14/11/2012 22:42

Another splodge here, this one from Hampshire.

ShiftyFades · 14/11/2012 23:06

Shining bright in Hampshire Grin

Night night Trazzle, hope you are all getting plenty of rest and today has gone well xxx

Trazzletoes · 15/11/2012 06:17

Number9 fingers crossed she has low risk neuroblastoma which is more common in under 1s and has survival rates knocking on 100% because its pretty much benign. One of the possibilities is that the chemo may turn Joe's aggressive, high-risk neuroblastoma in to low risk tumours instead.

So he had his ultrasound yesterday and then we toddled off for chemo. The scan had been delayed for nigh on 2 hours and by the time we got to clinic and Joseph had coughed all over the receptionist, the Dr decided that more swabs needed to be taken and a chest x-ray before chemo could start.

This is just a teeny bit frustrating because this happens EVERY TIME. And with the same Dr. He has had this cough since September .

By the time the tests were done they decided to postpone chemo til today because its done as an out-patient this time. Again, I had no idea. I know they have an awful lot on but do think they may benefit from not assuming we know everything.

Still, it means we should be home tonight, for DH's birthday (yay!). Not sure if we'll have more chemo tomorrow... I really don't know anything!

Also, now his whole treatment has been delayed by a day we're very much hoping that he doesn't need an extra course of chemo at the end as that would start on Christmas Day... Cross your fingers (again!) peeps!

Am meant to be having a meeting with work this morning to sort out the logistics of my return. DM said last night she's worried she's not feeling well so may not be able to come and sit with Joe while I go. This keeps happening so I'm fairly certain it's psychosomatic but will see if I can convince her!

Oh Trazzle that all sounds hard. How frustrating to have chemo delayed. Enjoy DH's birthday and I have fingers crossed for no Christmas chemo.
Tell Joseph there is a splidgy splodge of light for him in Melbourne!

onedev · 15/11/2012 06:47

Fingers crossed tightly.

ShiftyFades · 15/11/2012 07:24

Fingers and toes firmly crossed.
Here's hoping today goes better than yesterday.
Hope DH enjoys having everyone around him for him birthday xx

BehindLockNumberNine · 15/11/2012 07:39

Oh Trazzle, the waiting and not knowing sounds so hard. Thinking of you and little Joe. Will keep fingers crossed that the last round of chemo won't be needed so you can be home for Christmas.

I dont' know the grade / type of the little girls' neuroblastoma, dd is not particularly friendly with the little girl's older sister who is in her class at school and I don't know the girls mum to chat to. I do know that she is in Gt Ormond Street and they have started chemo. And her grandparents have set up a fund and are fundraising. Am of course hoping for the best for them.

I hope Joe's chemo does it's thing and kicks his neuroblastoma firmly in the goolies!

Sending splodges of light on this damp grey morning x

Trazzletoes · 15/11/2012 08:37

So far he's had, for breakfast: Nutella on toast, a breadstick and a packet of Frazzles...

Where are the fruit shoots?! Grin

OP posts:
TeaMakesItToTheTop · 15/11/2012 09:29

Mmmmmm Nutella on toast. Perfect way to start a birthday. Lovely to hear he's eating.

Splodges of light from Bath still coming your way.

Cadmum · 15/11/2012 12:02

Splodge from Thailand praying for good news on Friday and NO Christmas chemo.

I am sorry that everything is so complicated and that you feel left out of the loop on the communication. I agree that you should feel informed and aware of the next steps in the process. Treatment is stressful enough without feeling confused about the process. Is there someone you could speak with?

BlueGuinefort · 15/11/2012 12:11

Hoping and praying for good news for your little lovely Joe. Lighting up a splodge in County Durham Smile

Thumbwitch · 15/11/2012 12:11

Lost you Trazzle - glad that DS has had some breakfast but sorry to hear of complications with treatment.
Onwards and upwards though. :)

THERhubarb · 15/11/2012 12:12

I lost this thread for a while there and got quite worried. Good to see you are still coping incredibly well and I will keep everything crossed for you for Friday x

Jamillalliamilli · 15/11/2012 13:30

Also lost the thread. Sorry you're going through so much frustration. Crossing everything for Friday and not to be starting chemo on Christmas day. Wishing you all continued strength and a Happy Birthday to DH.

Trazzletoes · 15/11/2012 22:35

Welcome back everyone! Grin

Today's chemo has gone fine and he has been really cheery today if not a little annoying!!! When he got unhooked from the drip, he was stood on the bed (dressed as Spider-Man), dancing with me and we were singing Hakuna Matata with the nurses Grin Grin

To be fair, it's not their fault we're clueless. I've asked on admission before how long we're in for and they don't know themselves until they have the charts in front of them. They are being fab, especially today when our nurse was well-organised.

Another chemo sesh tomorrow and then home again and start the battle against the dreaded itchy rash.

But obviously the first results are what will be trying to keep us awake tonight. I say that coz I already fell asleep watching The Big Bang Theory... Oops!
