Currently in hospital since last night with DS who is 3. Scans show masses on his brain. Drs believe them to be tumours, likely to have come from his abdomen.

Waiting for more scans/tests etc. staff are being overly nice to us which is worrying me more (though they did refer us to social services last night as they thought DH or I had fractured DS' skull.

Feel incredibly sick. He is 3 years old. Please hold my hand.

Blooming phone only updated after I'd posted Blush

Bless him, they are so amazing, fascinating to watch and a privilege to be their parents. I have given my son extra cuddles since reading this thread, I give him masses anyway but it just brings it home that I must never take him for granted.

Hope you manage some sleep tonight xxx

I know. As much as I want to be here with him, I hate leaving DD behind. She is changing every day and I just want to cuddle her, and him, all the time. DS still won't take any meds :(

Oh my goodness I have jus read this entire thread in tears, I am speechless.

Another light here in Cheshire, I will be checking this daily and thinking of your beautiful little boy all night. He is so handsome btw!

I can't stress how tightly I have everything crossed for him, and no mother should have to go through this, how lucky he is to have such a devoted and loving mummy xxx

Have they said when they'll put the tube in? Food & medicine will both be easier with it in place. Poor little love :( I presume he's not even interested in ice? Not even in coloured shapes/animals?

It's really hard being torn between one at home that needs you and one in hospital that needs you even more - all you can do is your best and they will both remember the good bits, not the shite bits - kids do.

Sending much love & strength

You and your family have been in my thoughts today. I'm so pleased you are back with him.

I'd like to echo Hairy's comments. If I can send you post - perhaps books for you to read to him I would like to support you in some way.

Sending a light from SE London (having just found & read the entire read - this & Downton Abbey are going to leave me a blubby wreck tonight! :) )

Trazzle, you and your family are doing an amazing job - hope all the support you have on here is helping to lift your spirits and strength.

Can understand your worries regarding the NGT - as a Paeds nurse myself I know they aren't the most straight forward thing to get into position, but once in it would mean no battles over horrible medicine or less than lovely build-up drinks, would even possibly increase his appetite as he'll know he only needs to eat "nice" stuff, plus if hydrated via NGT/drip he won't get beyond hungry (and so have lost his appetite - know it happens to me sometimes).

He is a handsome young man, please give him a hug from me (and I guess all of us) & I hope to keep up to speed with your updates in the coming weeks xx

hi Trazzle, how are you guys doing today? How are your DCs? Is DM coping OK? Are you coping OK?
Stupid questions, I know the answers are that everything's awful, but thinking of you all.

Hi Trazzle. Glad you have got in to see your DS again.

Hope your DD is feeling better too.

You are doing amazingly well and, yes, you're doing it because you have to but that doesn't make it any less amazing.

Much love to you and the family x

Just noticed this is nearing 1000? Do we need to ask MNHQ to extend it rather than needing a new thread

Gosh sirzy I have no idea - didn't even know that was possible!

Ng tube going in this afternoon. Chemo also starts this afternoon but the antibiotics will stop...

DM and DD are popping in this afternoon. DD is much better thank goodness. That's one weight off my mind anyway! :)

DS had a hearing test this morning as some of the chemo can damage the auditory nerve. He didn't hear a lot of the noises but it turns out he just has glue ear .

We're all getting by. Thanks for your support, as ever x

Trazzle - it's much better to start a new thread and link it to this (if you can't, one of us can do the link for you). If the threads get too big they are very difficult for phone users apparently. If YOU start the new thread it will be best though as then your posts will then be highlighted (did you know that you can highlight your own posts and the OP's posts? - sorry, not sure how much of a regular you are!).

I'm glad DD is feeling better now, that'll make life a bit easier for her and for you.

I hope the NG tube goes in easily for DS & the chemo isn't too bad :(

Hmm at the 'glue ear' - you think they'd check for that first given how many kids have it, it's one worry you could have done without isn't it!!

Big hugs for all of you
x

Thanks chipping. I'm home tonight and will sort out a new thread and link then.

Thanks for the info, I am on here reasonably often, but haven't been around for too long so am not really known IYSWIM. I'm a big fan of the highlighty bits Grin. I'm nervous about them getting the ng tube in, but he's had a demo on a teddy bear and that went really well so fingers crossed.

Hello

As Chipping says, it would be best to start a new one and link to it from here; long threads can cause loading problems for lots of users.

Very best wishes Trazzletoes to you, your DS and the whole Trazzle family - we're thinking about you here at MNHQ.

Poor teddy, the things they endure for the greater good! Wink Hopefully it will go just as well on DS!

I'll be thinking of him (& you!) this afternoon x

It's hard to know when you are being helpful and when you are teaching your granny to suck eggs! LOL but sometimes long term, frequent users, don't know about some of the 'fun' things (ie colours!) and many who should be able to can't (or wont) do links!

Right - not many posts 'left' on this thread now, so I wont post anymore until you have set up the new thread.

Lots of love & strength
x

Glad to see things are on a slightly more even keel for the time being at least.

I saw a leaflet at work this morning and thought of you - I'm sure someone will have mentioned it already, but have you and your DH and other close family members that are helping you out regularly at the moment looked into getting the flu jab? It is recommended for those who have a family member with a weakened immune system, and the current vaccine formulation has changed since last year to combat some new/different strains, so even if you had it when pregnant with your DD last year it would be worth looking into getting it done again.

Hope all goes well with the NG tube. I'm at work Mon-Thurs but will aim to update the map for you at the end of the week Smile.
