11 month with really bad cold

Dd been loaded with cold now for 2 weeks. She's totally blocked up and has now developed a really awful cough :(

I took her to GP last week who listened into her chest but said it was clear. I'm just concerned as she's showing no signs of getting better. I caught it same time as her and have been better now for a week.

How long does this sorta thing last? Listening to her now through baby monitor coughing away!!

Poor baby and poor you! Try raising the head end of her cot (use books or cot blocks) so that she isn't lying completely flat. If the heating is on then it might also help to put a bowl of water on top of the radiator in her room while she's sleeping, or use a humidifier if you've got one.

Tomorrow, sit with her in the bathroom with the door closed while the shower's on for 15 minutes - same effect as a humidifier. You can also get Olbas Oil for babies (yellow and orange box), which you can use in a humidifier/bowl of water or put a few drops on a tissue under her cot sheet.

I take it you're giving her Calpol anyway?

If you think she isn't getting better then take get back to the doctor. She might need an inhaler for a short time to shake the cough.

Yes I've been giving her paracetamol and got some cough mix from chemist but it's not really doing much so I'm reluctant to keep it going

Been using baby Vicks on her chest and I've placed a bowl of boiling water in her room with some olbas oil. She's sounding so wheezy, hate to think this is just 'normal' of the cold.

Maybe I will take her back to GP, but fear it will be waste of time as really there isn't much to offer for a cold. Her eyes/nose just constant streaming

If she is wheezy then you definitely need to get her aern

Don't worry about going back as babies condition change so quickly, especially if she's sounding wheezy now.

Thanks everyone. She's woke up this morning looking much better. Nose has dried up and apart from the initial coughing when she went to bed, I never heard her all night.
Will keep a close eye and take her back if I hear the wheezing again
