Is this a virus?

My DS was sick all night and today has been laid on the sofa mostly snoozing. He now has a temp of 39.3 (for which I've given him nurofen) he has had a cough/cold for about a week and is prone to chest infections but does this sound like a virus to you?

I'd put my ear to his chest and listen. If there's any squeaks, rattles or wheeze then get him checked out for chest infections. Also if you tap gently his chest it should sound hollow.

Ds (age 5) had tonsilitis (viral) a couple of weeks ago and it totally laid him out, hardly woke for 24 hours, but it was just viral and didn't need any medication.
