Split in milk tooth

Hi was wondering if anyone had any experience of this.

My DD1 is 2 and a half and has what appears to be a split in her front lower milk tooth.

When it came through it appeared to come through in 2 different halves. Its not that noticable really and as it was only a milk tooth I didn't really worry.

Anyway have took her to the dentist today for her first check up and the dentist says it is an hereditary thing and probably means that her adult tooth will be missing. As you can imagine I was a little shocked as this was not what I expecting her to say. So I asked what could be done if it is absent and she was very dismissive and said we'll cross that bridge when we get to it etc.

Has anybodys child has this? Did they have an adult tooth and if not could anything be done to prevent or fix the gap?

Ds has a fused tooth/teeth Confused. I dont think its hugely uncommon, nor are missing adult teeth. As there is nothing to be done about either until time for adult teeth, there is no point in worrying about it. If the adult tooth is missing, then braces can be used to push teeth together to take its place, which, iiuc, is more usual than implants.

Just take care brushing the fused tooth as bacteria/plaque can collect more easily in the groove than with normal adjacent teeth.
