Ds has itp and now has a lump?

2 weeks ago my ds was diagnosed with itp, a platelet disorder which causes bruising and bleeding, now one of his bruises on his leg has a massive solid lump on it. He's still crawling so on his legs most of the day but can't think of a bad knock or fall recently?
Why would a bruise develop a lump like this? Is it more serious with itp? X

A haematoma is usually a hard lump under a bruise. Is it warm? If still warm it suggests he is bleeding in that area. Presumably his ITP is being closely monitored with regular blood tests?

He's having weekly blood tests, his last count was high and we thought he was improving but the mass of bruises have returned like 2 weeks ago :-( do haematomas need to be looked at by dr and how soon?

Contact your GP - or haemo if you have access to them. I suspect he's fine but another test might help you. He must be due one anyway if it was 2 weeks ago and they are weekly. Weekly tests suggests not a very serious case to me. (not an expert at all and not familiar with paediatric ITP)

Hi, my ds had itp as a little one, do you have open access to the local PDU? If so I'd go up there are get them to look him over. If not I'd ring your ds haematologist and ask them if you should bring him in.

It's not something that ever happened to my ds, but anything out of the ordinary is worth getting checked.
