Rash after finishing course of clarithromycin

Dd (7months) has been in hospital for bronchialitus/RSV. They gave her a course of clarithromycin (antibiotic) as a 'just in case'. She finished that on Monday evening and came out of hospital on Wednesday. On Friday she was very sleepy and hot so I took he for GP to check. She had a couple of spots on her head but she was alert enough for him not to be worried.

On Saturday she woke up feeling much better but her face covered in a rash that looks like spots. I took her to a GP and he said he didn't know what the rash was but that she has tonsillitis. Gave her another course of clarithromycin.

She now seems to feel fine but the rash is spreading. My friend said her dd got a rash after finishing antibiotics. I am now in two minds as to whether to keep up the antibiotics or to stop them. I will go to GP on Monday (again!) But just wondered if anyone else had come across this rash after antibiotics?

Ds came out in a rash after taking it and it turned out he is allergic to it. I would be tempered to go to OOH and get him checked and it changed if needed

DS2 has to have this at least monthly and he doesn't ever get a rash. Have you read the list of side affects in case it's listed? I'd be thinking an allergic reaction and may r get her checked out.

Hope she is soon properly on the mend. It's horrible when it drags on.

Thanks for your replies. We are off to the out of hours GP soon but after reading list if side effects (thanks, why didn't I think of that?!) I am less worried. She seems to feel fine and the rash isn't bothering her so think measles and chicken pox are out.
Hopefully we will get to the bottom of it soon
