Cradle Cap in older children

Both of my dc had bad cradle cap as babies and I used olive oil which helped. They have both developed it again this summer (aged 6&8) and I was hoping that someone could suggest a product or remedy to help please?

Believe it or not, good old Head & Shoulders does the trick. The Dry Scalp one is good. I use it on DS and DD2.

D'oh, I hasn't thought of that as an option....thank you Cointreau. I guess I was thinking about childrens products but will def try it.

Ds gets areas of cradle cap still, I just put loads of conditioner on, give his scalp a good massage to loosen it and then comb thought with a nit comb to remove the loose scales before rinsing. May take a couple of days of this to clear it all

Thank you starfish, I found a headlice in dd's hair so will be doing the relentless conditioner/combing but at least it may benefit her scalp too!

T-Gel shampoo is good for sensitive skin, or just a normal anti-dandruff shampoo.

Thank you Dilys, she's used head and shoulders last 2 washes, I think I will put some olive oil on her scalp at the weekend too...much to dd's disgust!

A combination of the above worked well on DS2 when he was older..
Try Olive Oil to soften the cap, then use the nit comb. This helps to lift off, and get the scaley bits out, then wash the oil out.

It's definitely cradle cap? I only say this because DM thought I had it recurrently as a child. In the end she took me to GP. It turned out to be scalp psoriasis ... The two look quite similar...

My DC both still have it to varying degrees and are the same ages as your DC. DS2's was so bad that I talked to the GP who gave us a steroid treatment to apply twice a day. It has helped a lot but his hair falls out with the cradle cap :(. I am hoping the bald patches are only temporary.

It looks the same but i will get a 2nd opinion, it doesn't itch or bother them and is mainly down their partings so not all over their scalp. I had wondered whether it was a reaction to the endless amount of nit treatments dd's had to endure since starting school.
