Makes for interesting reading, seems like further confirmation that asthma is linked to RSV in a lot of cases.

I hope that the research can be taken further to reduce the risks in later life for babies who suffer with RSV

Ds developed RSV related asthma. The link has been known about for at least 15 years.

He suffered really badly for about 5 years, then gradually started improving, and now, in his early 20s, he is fine. (Had RSV bronchiolitis aged 4 months).

My dd had bronchiolitus twice as a baby :( once st a month and then again a month later :( she is approaching two soon and I had thought we possibly might be in the clear as her sister was symptomatic around this time. Am now doubly worried after a link on this link about antibiotics in infancy doubling the risk of developing asthma :( dd2 had two lots of iv antibiotics and an oral prophylactic dose for six months. Doesn't look like we should relax just yet does it :(

DD had RSV bronchiolitis at two weeks old; in PICU on ventilator for a week and suffered asthma-like condition following that. However, the last year (now 4.8) she has improved no end and is currently off all asthma meds. We wait to see what cold and flu season will bring this year but she is so much stronger now. I thought this link had been known about for years too, certainly the babies in PICU at the same time as DD with RSV (the ward was full of them!) that we kept in contact with all had similar long-term problems.
