Hello.. I am new here but others have advised me to post for help.
My three year old son for as long as i can remember has suffered from a recurring rash around groin/ bum/armpits.. groin and bum being the worst affected. we go to the the doctors they give us cream (cortisone/steroids) it goes away.. it come back we go back to the drs they give us cream and so on so forth.. Now my son no longer wears nappies so he isn't left damp for any amount of time.
On top of this he suffers from constipation/diarrhea from one day to the next with tummy ache and bleeding from the bum after pooping.
The doctors have sent a poop sample with nothing significant coming back..
Ethan has trouble also with his speech.
He doesn't complete his words and its difficult for people to understand him which means he sometimes gets left out at school.
Here is an idea of his talking
Grandad Ian - Da E
Bum -bung
money -mung
button -bung
press -pear
water - four
juice - ju
the list goes on

my question is could this all be related?
He has very short attention span but becomes almost obsessed with one thing for months and the minute its pocohontas on dvd..
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated
sorry for any spelling errors. anto correct lol

I think a referral to a peadiatrician wouldn't go amiss actually. Sometimes these thing can be related but some children are just slower and he is still very young. A community pead will look at the child as a whole and take all of your concerns in to consideration.

Does he see a speech therapist at all?

My little boy had lots of medical & speech problems that did turn out to be related but I know most aren't.

Good luck Smile

Hiya. Thanks for your reply. Do you think i should ask for a referral? He was seeing a speech therapist but they said they were happy with him development that was almost a year ago. His speech is getting worse so i have called for another referral.
Thank you

Hi, I don't know if you realised but you have put your son's name in your OP.

.......also has problems with his speech.

I'd refer back to speech therapy and set about getting some allergy tests done
Gluten/ wheat etc

That sounds just like my Ds (3yrs ago) he was giving every cream under the sun but nothing worked. 10months after the rash appeared my ds got taking in to hospital with something completely un related. Long story short the following day a newly qualified doctor came to ds bedside and told me he'd been researching the night before a rash on another patient (rash wasn't the same). But he came across a picture of a rash that looked like my ds's. It's called Gianotti-Crosti syndrome completely harmless, no treatment for it should clear up on own. Usually affects the legs, arms and bum it really seems to like body joints. Its not common and no doctor i've come across since has heard of it. If you put it in your search engine there are pictures of it on varies health websites. Hope this helps

Oh.. didn't realise. Force of habit. How do i remove it?
Thanks for the other replies..

Called the speech therapist she's arranging another referral.

Does your ds have any signs of milk allergy?

have you had his hearing tested? wondering if he has glue ear? it could be allergy linked if so and it might also explain the rash.
